Mesothelioma Asbestos Cancer - receive an extra £1,800
Families affected by asbestos related deaths, or mesothelioma, will now receive an extra £1,800, after the Government upped the compensation for the first time in five years, from £10,000 to £11.800.
Norwich North MP Ian Gibson has long campaigned for more money and supported the Evening News Asbestos Action campaign to ban the particularly deadly white dust, but said he was disappointed at the decision.
He said: “Since the government have decided to pay the pensions out at 90pc they should start to think about this in the same way. The increase is welcome but it is not enough.
